History of Michigan FC
The Michigan FC (Football Club) began in 2015 and gained status as an incorporated non-profit organization. Starting with only few kids who recent relocated from the war zone in Syria, Iraqi, Yemeni, African and other parts of the world. Grew in having boys’ teams playing in Michigan Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) under soccer across America program, today Michigan FC is one of few clubs in MYSA that are part of the soccer across America supporting the youth with free training and travel programs and league play, fielding boys and girls teams and over 300 players playing from K-12 in our year-round travel programs.
Although Michigan FC has changed in size over the years growing by the numbers to support the local communities, our philosophy of emphasizing player development over winning has remained and our teams have performed very well on the field in terms of both skill and results. Our belief is that players, parents, the club, and the community will always "win through development" supporting youth to their maximum potential.
Michigan FC practice locations are the very communities we serve to ensure it’s easy on families and kids transportation we have selected practice locations as follows:
Detroit - Lloyd H. Ryan Park
Dearborn - Civic Center Soccer Field other fields too
Dearborn Heights - Highview Elementary School
Allen Park - Millward Park
All home games are played in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights soccer / food fields to support local families from driving longs distances. This ensure kids are able to make it to the field of play and parents can make the drive without the burden of hours of driving for a soccer / football game.
In 2016, the Club started year round indoor and out practices the indoor facility of choice is located out of the Melvindale Civic center, open field, which also includes two training grids. This allows teams plenty of space and at least one goal to shoot on at a time which is convenient for the team. The practice facility also enables other development activities such as common goalkeeper training.
Michigan FC continues to provide year round training for the local youth and community for free or reduced cost, we at Michigan FC understand the major factor in kids not being able to play sports is the cost of playing a sport that the youth love, but can’t afford. Michigan FC is here to support those that are in need and expand on offering that option for many generations to come.
